SCPL Week 5 Recap: Artesia DES FC Is Not Backing Down

LA MIRADA, CA (October 13, 2025) - Artesia DES FC isn’t backing down after earning promotion.

Jeremy Couto and Francisco Vieira scored for Artesia DES FC in a 2-1 victory over Temecula FC II in a SoCal Premier League Men’s First Division match at Patricia H. Birdsall Sports Park in Temecula, on Sunday, Oct. 12. 

With the win, Artesia DES FC (2-1-1 overall) moves into second place in the SCPL First Division with seven points. Real Sociedad O.C. (4-0-0) remains undefeated and in first place on 12 points.

Two First Division matches - FC United Kingdom vs. Real Sociedad O.C., and Forza SC vs. AMSG Elite, scheduled for Sunday at Oak Creek Park in Irvine - has been postponed and will be rescheduled for a later date.

In the SCPL Second Division, Joey Benitez scored a hat trick for Zapa FC in a 5-4 win over AMSG U23 at Lake Forest Sports Park in Lake Forest on Sunday. Benitez has 12 goal contributions in five matches played for Zapa FC this season.

Zapa FC (5-0-0 overall) remains undefeated in first place for the SCPL Second Division with 15 points.

Also on Sunday, Carlos Suarez scored a hat trick for FC Cypress in a 4-0 win over Atlas FC South Bay at Oak Creek Park in Irvine, and Christian Gonzalez scored three times for Academia Gullit in a 6-0 win over Fontana Legacy FC at Ralph M. Lewis Sports Complex in Fontana.
