Southwest Premier League Names Kian Kohan First Commissioner
LA MIRADA, CA (July 8, 2025) – The Southwest Premier League (SWPL) is proud to announce Kian Kohan as its new Commissioner.
Previously the SWPL’s Operations Manager, Kohan becomes the USASA multi-state league’s first unified Commissioner, effective immediately.
“Kian is the right person for this role,” Southwest Premier League President Matt Morse said. “His playing, coaching and administrative experience in the soccer space make him the perfect person to be the first SWPL Commissioner. He’s been a keystone to the SWPL admin team over the last few years, and we’re excited to empower his decision-making moving forward.”
A native of Woodland Hills, CA, Kohan holds a master’s degree in Sports Administration from Arkansas State University, a USSF National ‘B’ coaching license and a UEFA ‘C’ coaching license. He currently is the Director of Operations for the UC Santa Barbara (NCAA) men’s soccer program.
“I'm excited to begin my new role as SWPL Commissioner,” Kohan said. “Over the past few seasons, it’s been a privilege to already work alongside many of our teams across all conferences.”
Kohan is responsible for overseeing the league’s operations, ensuring fair play and representing the SWPL, its clubs and its affiliates across the Southwest United States. He’ll handle a wide range of responsibilities, from setting league policies to resolving disputes.
“I’d like to thank Matt Morse and the SWPL team for the impact they’ve made in helping the league grow,” Kohan said. “I'm looking forward to building on that momentum and continuing to move the league forward together.”
