FAS USA Academy Captures SoCal Premier League 2nd Division Title

LA MIRADA, CA (June 1, 2026) — FAS USA Academy was focused on its first title.

Erik Gomez scored twice in the second half as FAS USA Academy defeated FC Cypress 4-2 to win the SoCal Premier League 2nd Division championship at Al Barbour Field on the campus of Biola University on Sunday, May 31.

In its first season in the SoCal Premier League’s 2nd Division, FAS USA Academy won the North section with a 11-1-1 overall record and will be promoted to the 1st Division for the upcoming Fall Season.

FC Cypress’ grabbed the lead with a goal from Anthony Noria in the 3rd minute, but Raul Cendejas grabbed the equalizer for FAS USA Academy in the 12th minute.

Matthew Ballin was sent off in the 25th minute for denying an obvious goal-scoring opportunity and FC Cypress played with 10 men the final 65-plus minutes.

Gomez broke the tie with a goal in the 61st minute followed by another from teammate Scott Benitez. Gomez tackled on another late to finish off the victory.
