Raul Briones Cup Recap: Temecula FC Wins Shootout To Claim Region IV Spot

LA MIRADA, CA (May 18, 2026) - There were flags (and not flares) in the air as Temecula FC lifted its first Raul Briones Cup.

Elias Macias scored the clinching goal as Temecula FC beat Montclair Academy FC 3-3 (4-3) in a shootout to claim the SoCal Premier League Raul Briones Cup at Al Barbour Field on the campus of Biola University on Sunday might, May 17.

A Raul Briones Cup finalist last year, Temecula FC kept its head after Montclair Academy FC equalized in the 80th minute, holding firm through 30 minutes of overtime to set up the shootout.

Alberto Renteria. Noah Mabra, Francisco Martinez and Macias all scored in the shootout, and goalkeeper Zach Cochran made two saves to help the club secure its first trophy since winning its last Riverside County Cup in 2021.

The Briones Cup victory also earns the club a spot in the upcoming United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) Region IV tournament in Farmington, Utah in June. The winner there advances to the National Amateur Cup in Milwaukee in July with a chance to qualify for the 2027 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

It was the first appearance in the Raul Briones Cup final for Montclair Academy FC, which currently leads SoCal Premier League's 1st Division with an 8-1-0 record.
