SWPL Secures Direct Path To U.S. Soccer National Amateur Cup Qualifying

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LOS ANGELES, CA — The Southwest Premier League (SWPL) announces a landmark strategic partnership with United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) Region IV to establish an elite, formalized pathway for top-performing SWPL clubs to transition directly into postseason regional championship tournaments, specifically mapping out access to the prestigious U.S. Soccer National Amateur Cup.

Under the terms of the agreement, the SWPL's competition structure will tie directly into USASA Region IV's flagship knockout qualification brackets. Briones, Freeman & Abronzino Cup winners as well as First Division championship clubs will bypass preliminary state-level wildcards to slot cleanly into the West Qualifying Tournament. This restructuring streamlines pathways to the Fritz Marth U.S. National Amateur Cup, the winner of which gains a coveted berth into the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

"This strategic alliance with USASA Region IV represents a monumental step forward for our clubs, players, and the broader soccer community across the Southwestern United States," said Matt Morse, President of the Southwest Premier League. "By securing dedicated slots in both the West and Four Corners Qualifying Tournaments, we provide our member clubs with an undisputed, merit-based pipeline to compete on the national stage. This alignment rewards sporting merit and enhances the competitive stakes across all our regional divisions."

The integration also enhances the SWPL's competitive reach into two qualifying zones that are based on geographic alignment:

• The West Qualifying Tournament: Championship SWPL sides from the SoCal Premier League, Pacific Premier League, San Diego Super Liga, Central Valley Super Liga and the Nevada Premier League will slot directly into the West Qualifying Tournament bracket.

• The Four Corners Qualifying Tournament: The Mountain Premier League, and SWPL partner since 2021, also has reached an agreement with USASA Region IV to send its championship clubs into a new qualifying competition just for Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, and Arizona.

The partnership highlights the SWPL's historic 50-year track record of cultivating stable, highly competitive adult amateur environments. Integrating the league's championship clubs directly into the regional tournament structure ensures that the West and Four Corners fields will feature the highest possible caliber of competition, strengthening Region IV's presence in the later rounds of the National Amateur Cup.

The newly aligned qualification path is set to take effect for the upcoming tournament cycles. Further details regarding exact slot allocations per region and tournament seeding rules will be distributed to member clubs by the SWPL league office in the coming weeks.
